Jeff Josephine

Sophie Elm is an illustrator, printmaker and ceramicist, previously working under the alias Jeff Josephine Designs and is based in the UK. She studied illustration at Edinburgh College of Art, and now focuses mainly on creating illustrative linocuts and studio pottery, all with a horticultural theme, strong bold colour palette and playful use of pattern and typography. Sophie divides her time between a variety of commissions and personal projects, which can include designs for wedding stationary, ceramics and children’s books.
Her hand rendered vintage style illustration can be found gracing bowls, plates, necklaces, Christmas baubles, tea sets, pin cushions, tote bags, limited edition prints and stationary.

She often uses a bold combination of colours that include a vibrant palette of reds, white, blues and blacks and her decorative, pattern full designs can remind us off vintage wartime packaging and typography- the kind you might find in your Granny’s sewing box! Her hand painted ceramics and hand cut lino prints also keep things personal and prove that traditional skills still have a strong place in the modern world!
