Northern Lights (Square) Lithograph
£ 50.00
Northern Lights (Square) Lithograph print by Ploterre
The print looks at solar activity for the most recent solar cycle using data from the Shetland weather station.
Using only k-values greater than five (a level of geomagnetic activity that would be visible from somewhere in the UK), the mountain tracks total days by year. There is normally one peak in the middle of a cycle but the last cycle was unusual in having this double peak.
The skyline uses the same data but looks across 12 years broken down by month (January is at the far left). This time strength of the activity is also visualised; the thicker the line, the stronger the magnetic storm.
This limited edition includes 257 prints. One for every day that had visible activity somewhere in the UK.
