The International Edinburgh Festival has now officially begun!! If you’re a local you’ll have felt the frenzy building over the last few weeks as performers descend on the city to prepare for their shows.
The List Party at SummerHall last night marked the official start to the festival with snippets of shows to see during the month ahead. We were lucky enough to be invited along and enjoyed checking out Colin Cloud’s magic skills amongst many other acts.
Local drink sponsors on the night came from Pickerings Gin who have their distillery based in Summerhall. We certainly enjoyed our Gin And Tonics! 😉
As all eyes are on our fair city this month we though it only be right that we share some of our favourite Edinburgh Prints in this weeks #fridayfavourites.
You can’t deny, Edinburgh is a beautiful city from so many angles.
Emily Hogarth has captured the perfect view to Arthurs Seat. A beautiful 3 colour screen print featuring silhouettes of the buildings and floral details including lots of thistles.
Another piece from Susie Wrights Exhibition Here And There is Obscure View. The view through the buildings down to Princes Street from the Camera Obscura. We love the detailed reflections of the chimneys and buildings against the rooftops.
Popular Edinburgh print with our red door customers is Kate McLelland of Finch & Robins Edinburgh Skyline. Available as an A3 Print, Postcard pack featuring London and Paris too. Also now as a single postcard so that you can send your loved ones news from your holidays in style. Also available in Kate’s Skyline collection is London, Paris, New York and Glasgow.
We have a few prints in stock for you Greyfriars Bobby Fans.
Libby Walkers detailed print features some of your favourite landmarks around little bobby including The Elephant House. J.K Rowling reportedly wrote some of the early Harry Potter Books here.
Who could resist this little Bobby print from Emily MacKenzie. The poor little guy has had an unfortunate accident with a pesky little pigeon! Och No! indeed! I’m sure he’s going to be tired out with all his visitors this festival.
You all might remember our ‘Look What I Saw In Edinburgh‘ exhibition back in April. The talented students in their 3rd Year at ECA graced our window with all of their alternative views in Edinburgh. We love Valpuri Karinen Edinburgh Unicorn. Could that be a famous comedian riding the Unicorn??
Another favourite was the pastel colours of Victoria Street by Victoria Ball. Victoria also painstaikingly drew her beautiful Edinburgh drawings in our window for the exhibition.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this weeks #fridayfavourites and the beautiful views of Edinburgh through the eyes of the many talented artists that we work with. We would love to hear what your favourite view is.
A wee festival inspired print to end this weeks friday favourites with Seymours Highland Games.
Have fun out there at the festival and we’d love to here your recommendations on what to see and do. We’ll be sure to blog about any of our favourite shows too.
