Aye of the Tiger – A4 Print
A fun and colourful mix of Scottish and Chinese culture are combined here, to create this celebration of connection! The iconic and mythical creature ‘Nessie’ (The Loch Ness Monster) is held up, just in the same way as a Dragon in a traditional Chinese Dragon Dance would be. The legend of Nessie often describes it’s snake like body curving above the water, just like it is depicted in this design. Nessie is a much loved character in Scottish folklore and is often referred to as a ‘She’, with many people claiming to have sighted her – allegedly the first ever recorded sighting was on the 22nd August 565AD!
Additionally, Beautiful Tigers are held in such high regard in Chinese culture – and it’s easy to see why! Known as ‘The King of all Beasts’, Tigers have become a symbol of bravery, happiness – and are said to drive away evil spirits. The name of this piece is a play on words with the song ‘Eye of the Tiger’, made famous from the American Rocky movies. The main themes of perseverance and strength have been taken from this song, these themes and an overall positive message of connection and moving forward together – is what this design represents!
