Halloween Hullaba-BOO!

Halloween Hullaba-BOO! Did we scare you? Well of course we did! Halloween is on its way to haunt us and The Red Door Gallery is ready with some wickedly wonderful treats for all the art and design devils. Let’s have some Halloween fun this week you super-fine fiends!

A movie poster screen-print by artist Barry Bulsara to immortalise that twistedly funny film ‘What We Do In The Shadows’. A horror ‘Mock’umentary that reveals the tale of 21st Century Vampires sharing a house – If you liked ‘Flight Of The Conchords’, you’ll devour this!

The ghostly Snowy Owl screen-print by Susie Wright. We can picture it now, the dead of night in a deep, dark wood – the eerie cry of an Owl as it watches the cloaked figure creeping through the darkness. Red eyes burning, coming closer and closer… Anyone in the mood for a horror film?

Illustrated by Catherine Anne Hiley, The Raven’s Song Zine is a wee book of Raven-themed poems by Glasgow poet Nalini Paul. A sweet treat to read and a joy for your eyeballs to behold. ‘Open here I flung the shutter, when with many a flirt and flutter, In there stepped a stately Raven of the saintly days of yore’ to quote the famously, peculiar poet Edgar Allan Poe.

A magnificently, mangy moggy by Magda Boreysza. This killer kitten has a sneaky smirk and suspicious powers of suspension. More than just your ordinary Black Cat – this is a fascinating feline. Anyone else a little curious as to how sharp those curly claws might be?

What about a little bit of midnight glamour for the witching hour with these Mimi and Lula sparkly hair grips. A lesser known fact is that glitter is a very strong deterrent for all things ghostly, ghoulish and ghastly. True. So be fabulously fearless this Hallow’s Eve!

Need some costume inspiration? This brand new 2019 Calendar by Mister Peebles may not be spooky, but it’s certainly inventive in terms of dress up ideas! Halloween is not complete without a costume and if these wee animals can do it – you have no excuse!

Edinburgh does creepy pretty well and if you haven’t taken part in one of the city’s ghost tours yet – Halloween would be the perfect time! Haar by David Fleck is all about that eerie mist which mysteriously rolls into town shrouding the streets, waking the ghosts and turning Edinburgh Castle into Count Dracula’s lair!

We hope you have fun this Halloween and we look forward to hearing all about your ghoulish plans! And remember what we said about demon defence glitter – the more the better! For more ghost busting facts pop into The Red Door Gallery! 😉
