It’s International Woman’s Day today. A celebration of all the strong amazing woman in our lives. A call to #pressforprogress and a push for gender parity.
It’s more important than ever to celebrate the achievements of woman in all of society. We should feel proud as more and more woman stand up for their rights and use their voice for the greater good and equality for all. There are lots of Marches going on around the country. Here in Edinburgh there’s a March on Sunday the 11th. You can find all the details here.
Here are some of our favourite works behind our Red Doors that champion strong female characters. All of those featured today are strong fearless ladies using their voice as Artists/ Illustrators and Designers to get the message out.
The ever popular Frida Kahlo by And Smile. This is a new and updated version from last year featuring Viktorijas distinctive watercolour style. Frida in her floral glory. It really is a beautiful print. Available both as A4 and A3 size framed and unframed.
A true Girl Power celebration in this print by And Smile. This illustration was inspired by many amazing women who empower and inspire girls and women across the world. Viktorija truly believes ‘we all should be feminists and support each other. We don’t need to explain what kind of feminists we are. If we are into pink, flowers, make up, football, kicking ass, space, science or poetry or into none of these things or into all of them at the same time’. We couldn’t agree more with her statement. 🙂 GIRL POWER 🙌
Can you name any of the strong woman in this beautiful print? We can spy Pussy Riot, Beyonce, Oprah, Malala Yousafzai…… We’ll not spoil all the fun. Each print comes with a full who’s who so you can test your Strong Woman Spotting Skills.
Another strong representation for woman is this ‘Ladies We Got This’ print by local illustrator and strong woman herself Heather More. Heather uses her skills as an illustrator to talk about subjects close to her heart. This is one of her most popular card designs and we were so pleased when it arrived as a print too!
Hang the iconic punk front woman of Blondie on your wall! Know for her kickass style and catalogue of top hits. Debbie takes a big roll in supporting charities close to her heart, including HIV/Aids, Cancer and Endometriosis. Another strong female role model that continues to inspire.
It’s quite fitting that Mother’s Day and International Woman’s Day are in the same week. This is the perfect pin for all the Bad Ass Mothers out there. Pop on your favourite lapel to shout about your Bad Ass Status!
We’ve got an amazing range of cards this year to celebrate all the special ladies in your life, whether it’s for Mother’s Day or just to show those special ladies how much you care.
